The Mountaineer Leadership Program (MLP) will help you be the leader you want to be!

 

 

What is the MLP?

The MLP has three certificate levels, each one focused on a specific leadership theme, all tied to the Mansfield Creed of Scholarship, Culture, Service and Character.

 

• Bronze level targets your own personal leadership skills, from fundamental leadership concepts to creating a vision statement to improving listening skills.
• Silver level focuses on building your own leadership talents, indentifying your own leadership style and improving communication strategies. 
• Gold level leadership training concentrates on becoming a change agent, managing conflict and practicing your leadership in service to others. Gold level students are required to plan and execute a major leadership project, with the help of a mentor.

 

The MLP is incremental:  simply finish one level and move on the next!  Each level requires your participation in core and elective workshops and writing a Reflective Essay at the conclusion of each workshop.  Once you complete a level, you’ll receive a certificate of achievement, which can be included in your professional portfolio.  The MLP is a great resume builder, too! Employers want leadership talent, and everything you learn in the MLP will give you a competitive advantage.

 

Program participants completing the Gold level, and who have distinguished themselves throughout the program may be nominated to receive the SUMMIT AWARD FOR LEADERSHIP.  The Summit Award winner is selected by the Mountaineer Leadership Advisory Council.

 

Who can participate?

              Any Mansfield University student—full time, part time, resident, commuter, undergrad or graduate. 

 

What’s the schedule?

What does it cost?

              Thanks to a generous gift from the Mansfield University Foundation, your cost to participate in the MLP is… nothing!  Your only “cost” is your time and energy.  Everything else is provided!
